Upcoming Events in May in the Park & Surrounding Areas
Eagle Point-Blue Rapids Parks Council and our partners have 3 great events happening in May!
Event 1: Eagle Point-Blue Rapids Parks Council is partnering with Alder Flats Fish & Game Association to participate in Global Big Day on May 5. We’ll be out identifying and counting birds in the parks and on Buck Lake’s north shore, starting at 1:30 pm at Willey West and ending at Buck Lake with a wiener roast at the Fish & Game Group Camp. Event 2: The Drayton Valley Horse Club’s annual “Trail Ride Against Cancer” is taking place on May 26 on the Drayton Valley Horse Club Riverside Trails. There will be two pleasure rides – the first ride leaves the staging area at 10:00 am and the second ride begins at 1:30 pm. (The staging area is located 3.1 km north of the Twp 485/RR91 junction, west of Drayton Valley).
To participate, riders must have sponsors who make a specific financial contribution to the Drayton Valley Health Services Foundation (Minimum $15 for riders under 14, $25 for riders over 14).
Riders may arrive on Friday and camp. Coffee & muffins will be provided at 8:00 am. Lunch & supper are available to riders for $15.

Event 3: The Pembina Nordic is hosting their annual Bear’s Run Trail Run/Walk on May 26 as well! Choose from a 4 km/10 km run. Top 3 finishers will receive medals! Awards for the best dressed dogs! All proceeds raised go towards trail maintenance. For more info, contact 780-234-4912. Register at www.zone4.ca.
