About the Nature Journaling Workshop Artist Crystal Driedger
Join our Nature Journaling class and immerse yourself in the wild diversity of the outdoors while enhancing your artistic skills.
Experience the joy of capturing nature’s wonders through observational sketching and learn to bring your drawings to life with an introduction to watercolour and ink techniques.
You can expect to spend time in the outdoors sketching from nature as well as bringing nature indoors for a closer look and some more sketching and painting. Crystal will have a variety of props available at the workshop to help you draw inspiration, from delicate feathers to skulls, ensuring your creativity flows effortlessly onto the pages of your journal.

About our Instructor:
Inspired by memories and imaginings from a childhood spent playing in the forests and fields of her family farm, Crystal Driedger’s work ranges from intricate botanicals to playful and charming animals and landscapes. Her work can be seen in the Royal Alberta Museum, the Telus World of Science, in several public collections and murals and has been published in children’s books and magazines and has been selected to show in international and national exhibitions. You can find her products sold across North America.

Supplies You Must Bring:
Portable Sketchbook: recommended size: between 5×8” and 11×17”. If you would like to add colour to your work, a sturdier paper or a watercolour paper book is recommended
Pencils: at least one HB, but having a range is helpful – 2B, HB and 2H.
Pencil sharpener & eraser
Waterproof fine line felt tipped pen
Watercolour paints and brush: a basic set will work fine with a simple round brush.
Day-pack for carrying art materials
Sturdy closed toe shoes
Reusable water bottle
Appropriate clothing for rain or shine
