THE BAD NEWS….
GARBAGE
Someone in the Drayton Valley area has been dumping garbage in Eagle Point Provincial Park! Dumping garbage on crown land is illegal and poses risks to wildlife and natural ecosystems. The costs to remove garbage, car bodies and other debris inevitably comes from our tax payers!
Under the Public Lands Act, anyone caught dumping garbage on public lands can be ordered to remediate the land or face fines as high as $100,000. If you see someone dumping garbage, you can report it. Alberta Fish and Wildlife is asking Albertans to help fight illegal dumping by calling the Report a Poacher hotline at 1-800-642-3800. You can also contact Eagle Point-Blue Rapids Parks Council, 780-898-7275 if you see someone dumping garbage in our parks.
If you’re not sure where to take your garbage, contact your county or town office for the landfill or waste transfer station nearest your home.
